Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you just needed a USB stick that you could plug in into your iPhone or iPad? Maybe to move pictures off your iOS device to free up some space? Or to quickly print a document you just made?

Well, such USB sticks do exist. After looking around a bit, I bought the iShowfast USB stick from iCirround. Watch my review or read it under the video:

Where can you buy it?
You can easily find the iShowfast USB stick online, just look it up on Amazon for example. I myself found it in a shop called Media Markt, a famous tech shop here in Europe.

How much does it cost?
I paid about 50 euros for this USB stick of 16 GB. That sounds really expensive, but it’s the normal price for a USB stick with lightning connector (to be able to connect it to your iOS device). It also comes in a 32, 64 and 128 GB version.

What do you need it for?
I love working in the cloud, but sometimes I still need a USB stick. Sometimes, I would like to quickly transfer photos, videos or even documents from my computer to my iPad or vice versa. When on holiday, I like transferring photos from my iPhone to my iPad, but without internet connection, I can’t rely on the photostream. At my work, a USB stick is practical to easily print documents straight from the xerox machine. In these situations, a USB stick with on one end a lightning connector and a standard USB plug on the other, would come in handy.

What makes this USB stick unique? How does it work?
To be able to explore, copy, or move files from and to the USB stick, you need to download the app from the manufacturer. The app will serve as a “Finder” or “Explorer”. Before buying this USB stick, I compared the apps from several manufacturers (of USB sticks for sale in Media Markt). After a quick comparison, I found this one the be the best. It’s both functional, user friendly and intuitive. From any app, I can share files to the USB stick (via the iShowfast app) via the Share or “Open in” button in apps that have such button. Sharing can be done in both directions: from iOS to USB and computer AND from computer to USB and iPad. You could also transfer from one iOS device to another. It all works.

Besides the iShowfast app, the USB stick is also a USB 3.0 stick, which means transferring files from or to the stick/computer, will go the fastest as currently possible (if plugged into a USB 3.0 port, of course).

The build quality is also great! The stick has a metal feel and feels sturdy. Also the slider that lets you choose which connector you want to use, is very firm. Underneath that slider, there’s a blue light indicating whether or not your USB stick is in use (so you can remove it safely). The stick comes in different colours: pink, grey, gold and silver. I myself have the silver version.
